Paste Filling and Sealing Machine – Driving Standardization Upgrades in the Daily Chemical and Food Sub-sectors

Paste filling and sealing machines are widely used in the packaging of products such as facial cleansers, hand creams, and toothpaste in the daily chemical industry, as well as tomato sauce, salad dressing, and peanut butter in the food industry. The impact of this equipment on these industries is centered on resolving three persistent challenges in filling high-viscosity materials: low accuracy, excessive dripping, and insecure sealing, thereby promoting standardized and large-scale production in these sub-sectors.

Before the introduction of paste filling and sealing machines, filling for paste-type products heavily relied on semi-automatic or manual operations. Operators using simple measuring cups or pneumatic devices not only worked slowly but also faced significant metering errors, with net content differences of over 5% possible within the same batch. More problematic was the thixotropic or stringy nature of pastes, which often led to dripping or “tail dragging” after filling. This not only contaminated the bottle mouth, affecting subsequent sealing quality, but also caused material waste. Modern paste filling and sealing machines employ servo motor-driven piston pumps or rotary lobe pumps combined with precise cutoff devices, achieving filling accuracy within ±0.5% while completely eliminating dripping issues. This enhanced metering precision allows companies to control raw material costs more accurately, resulting in substantial annual savings for high-value daily chemical products.

Sealing technology is equally critical for paste packaging. Since paste products are typically packaged in tubes or plastic bottles, sealing methods include heat sealing, ultrasonic sealing, or capping. Paste filling and sealing machines integrate these processes into a single unit, often incorporating online leak detection to ensure every product meets sealing standards. This is particularly vital for products like toothpaste or ointments that have stringent moisture resistance and shelf-life requirements. The significant reduction in sealing defect rates directly decreases market complaints and return losses, enhancing brand reputation.

From an industry landscape perspective, the automation upgrade of paste filling and sealing machines has enabled small and medium-sized daily chemical enterprises and food processing plants to achieve packaging capabilities comparable to larger companies. In the past, high-quality paste packaging lines required substantial investment, limiting access to industry leaders. As domestically manufactured paste filling and sealing machines have improved in reliability and cost-effectiveness, medium-scale enterprises can now introduce automated lines at reasonable costs, thereby narrowing the quality and packaging image gap with top-tier brands. This “technological democratization” effect fosters healthy competition in daily chemical and food sub-sectors and has spurred the emergence of numerous small, innovative niche brands.

In terms of hygiene and cleaning, modern paste filling and sealing machines commonly feature quick-disassembly structures and Clean-In-Place (CIP) interfaces, significantly reducing cleaning time during changeovers. For companies producing multiple flavors or formulations, this translates to substantially higher equipment utilization. Additionally, material selection and structural design take into account the corrosiveness and hygiene requirements of paste products, utilizing food-grade stainless steel and sealing materials to prevent secondary contamination over long-term use. Overall, by addressing the core challenges of high-viscosity material packaging, paste filling and sealing machines have laid a solid foundation for standardized and efficient production in the daily chemical and food industries.
